Author: Brandon Stanton

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Summary:

A beautiful, heartfelt, funny and inspiring collection of photographs capturing the spirit of a city

In the summer of 2010, photographer Brandon Stanton set out on an ambitious project: to single-handedly create a photographic census of New York City.  Armed with his camera, he began crisscrossing the city, covering thousands of miles on foot, all in an attempt to capture New Yorkers and their stories.  The result of these efforts was a vibrant blog he called “Humans of New York,” in which his photos were featured alongside quotes and anecdotes.

Humans of New York is the book inspired by the Internet sensation. With four hundred color photos, including exclusive portraits and all-new stories, Humans of New York is a stunning collection of images that showcases the outsized personalities of New York.

Surprising and moving, Humans of New York is a celebration of individuality and a tribute to the spirit of the city.

Review:

This book makes me so happy. The photography is beautiful and the stories are amazingly told through the people photographed. It is inspiring to see other people lives and hear the stories that are not commonly told in everyday conversation. Brandon is able to make people communicate through the photos taken and the people open up to him and tell him their deepest secrets.

The human race is such a diverse community, and HONY perfectly captures the differences and unique qualites that are among the city.

Although i am fairly new to the HONY blog, I love to read all the stories that people have to share. Many stories are hard to share and do push some emotions, but they are all beautiful.

I highly recommend that everyone reads this books at some point in their lives as it will have an impact as to how you view the people around you. Not everyone is how they seem and we all have a story that needs to be told.

Read On Darlings!
