So, I realized that I never posted this on Friday, mostly beacuse I COMPLETELY forgot about it (whoops). Anywho, for those who do not know, this is a weekly meme created over on  A Couple Reads and Flavia the Bibliophile’s blogs, which is designed to showcase some of the older books you may have on your shelf that you want to read this year. If you are still unsure or confused, here is a little blurb from their sites:

Backlist Blast is a meme that is meant to encourage book bloggers to feature and talk about backlist books (meaning books that were published 6 months ago, or earlier). We all get excited about all of the newest books coming out, but many of us also have a looming TBR of books published 6 months ago or earlier that we still need to read! The main purpose of this meme is to talk about those books, and remember why we wanted to read them in the first place. Another purpose is for readers to find out about awesome backlist books that they might have never heard of before! For more information on the meme, and for optional themes, please see the info page here.

Now, let’s blast to the past for this week’s book!

– My Backlist Blast Choice –

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Date of Publication: April 7th, 2015

Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

Well, I kinda cheated this week, beause although this book came out a while ago, I just ordered the book and got it in the other week. BUT, I got it because I wanted to read it before watch the movie, sooo, I’m just going with it.
